ABOUT

DR GRAEME WALKER

Gynaecologist & Colposcopist
BSc, MBChB, MRCOG, RANZCOG

Dr Walker studied medicine at Edinburgh University, Scotland, graduating in 1996 and commenced obstetric and gynaecology training in 1998. He sat the highly competitive membership exam to the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists in 2001, graduating top of the worldwide field and winning the gold medal.

In 2004, after consolidating his experience, Dr Walker chose to specialise in gynaecology and completed his three year fellowship at the end of 2007.

In 2008, Dr Walker flew to Australia to undertake an additional one year gynaecological fellowship at the Royal Womens and Mater Hospitals in Brisbane, specialising in laparoscopic surgery.

He then returned to a consultants post in gynaecology at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Hospital, Scotland in early 2009.

Later that year, Dr Walker performed the first ever total laparoscopic hysterectomy in Edinburgh and since then has spent considerable time teaching other consultants this technique, both in Edinburgh and elsewhere in the UK.

He has interests in general gynaecology, laparoscopic/minimal access surgery, colposcopy and a special interest in the misery caused by horrendous, painful periods.

Dr Walker migrated to the Gold Coast in November of 2014 from Edinburgh where he was the Clinical Lead for gynaecology for Lothian public healthcare system (NHS).

He strives to ensure a gold standard of evidence-based care for all his patients and strongly believes patient care is a 24 hour concern and is therefore contactable at all times in the event of an emergency or complications. Dr Walker operates both privately and publicly at Gold Coast Private and Gold Coast University Hospitals.
